How does UU House compare to other similar facilities?
Rush House recently earned a five-star quality rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). We believe that this objective, third-party rating speaks volumes about the quality of our community. To see how UU House stacks up visit our facility in person; it's the best way to experience the homelike ambiance, friendly and professional staff, and unique community environment for yourself!
How is UU House connected to the Unitarian Universalist Association?
We are connected to the Unitarian Universalist Association in philosophy only; we follow the principles of the Unitarian Universalist Association in providing care to our residents. However, UU House is a non-profit, non-denominational retirement community. We are diverse and inclusive, and we welcome residents and families of all religious faiths and spiritual beliefs. In fact, our residents have regular opportunities to interact with our part-time chaplain and visiting rabbi, and to participate in regular religious activities.
What activities do you offer to UU House residents?
We maintain a full-time Activities Department that offers a variety of programming to engage, stimulate, and entertain residents. Daily activities such as "morning brew" and "morning stretch" give our residents a chance to start the day with social interaction and physical activity. The department also hosts other regular programs, such as trivia sessions, armchair travel, sharing memories, and a sensory group.
How's the food at UU House?
You'll have to try it yourself to know for sure, but our residents and staff give it two thumbs up! Our Dining Services are provided by Morrison Management Specialists (part of Compass Group), and we think they do a fabulous job serving up fresh, homemade soups, breads, entrees, desserts, and more.
How are end-of-life issues handled at UU House?
We honor residents' wishes in their Advance Directive or Living Will. In the absence of an Advance Directive or Living Will, we consult with the resident and their family or designated representative and honor their wishes.
